Above The Clouds Radio - #420 - 4/5/25

This is the return from the longest hiatus in ATC history, but we come back with those heatrocks on deck. Since this is episode #420 we decided to approach a weed tribute in a bit of a different way. We could have just played weed themed tracks the whole time but that seemed a bit silly so we just decided to keep the vibe real smoky and hazy and basically just play records that we'd like to hear when we're smoked out. rap79 sets it off with a gang of dope selections from the likes of Ruth Goller, The Heliocentrics, Jeff Parker and The Solar Unity Ensemble. KEMS then takes a bit of a different approach with a more beat centric set with a few other goodies sprinkled in. He sets it off with Linval Thompson's "I Love Marijuana" and then goes everywhere with selections from Bex Burch, Dimlite, Kite Symphony and S. Maharba. This show stays in that downtempo pocket and is a head nodder for sure. Hope y'all enjoy...

Back with another extra long show to get our weekly momentum going again. We brought the young homie Josh (@jojrecords) to come through and play some jams as well. KEMS sets it off with with an eclectic mix of things ranging from LL Cool J to Able Noise to The Butthole Surfers. For those that aren't up on the Able Noise record it is one of our favorites from 2024. A very distinct record.
Josh then jumps in with a good mix of mainly reggae and jazz with some other goodies sprinkled in. His set has classics from Group Home, Cecil McBee and Herbie Hancock. Don't sleep on the Flying Lizards or Tommy James & The Shondells tracks he plays either.
