Above The Clouds Radio - #424 - 5/3/25
This week's episode is a real good mix of new and old joints. We just had a bunch of records come in the mail which is always exciting for the following week's episode. KEMS sets it off with an eclectic set ranging from The Dead C to Noah Howard to Black Moon to Cindy Lee. If you haven't listened to the new Cindy Lee album called Diamond Jubilee. We can't recommend it enough. One of the most ambitious projects in terms of shear length and doesn't get boring at all.
rap79 then gets on the set and puts down it down. He starts out with a really cool track off the new Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp album which is available on the wonderful Bongo Joe label. The rest of set doesn't let up and features jams from Bitchin Bajas, Anagrams, Pharoah Sanders and lastly Minister Louis Farrakhan. The Farrakhan song is a 16 minute track that needs to be sampled immediately, but also is just wild in every aspect. You have to listen for yourself.

Episode #425 is a dope mix of the old and the new like only we do. The show gets going with rap79 setting it off with a set featuring jams from Ivan The Tolerable, Garrett List, Can and Apparat. Definitely peep the version of the classic Afro Blue by Francesco Sotgiu which is absolutely one of the best versions of this song.
KEMS then comes in with a ton of good jams including a nice run of some classic 90's hip hop including gems from Fugees, Gravediggaz, The Grouch and Gang Starr. The set also includes a couple of songs from the new Web Web album which feature show favorite JJ Whitefield. Peep the new album Plexus Plexus which is a different direction for the band from their recent run of spiritual tinged jazz albums.

A 5 hour banger! We're joined by the homies Josh (@jojrecords) and Felipe (@ftsalles). Josh is a local record dealer and is always picking up solid records. Felipe is a music enthusiast who is always at the shop when we do the show, but he's definitely a bigger deal than us as he is part of the Jazz Bums (@jazzbums) collective. Check their youtube channel for great jazz related content.
rap79 sets it off with a mellow set including gems from Khôra, Velvet Underground, and the new Cavalier/Child Actor LP. Josh then continues the vibe with a nice set including the first vaporwave song played on the show. His drops hitters from the likes of Q Lazarus, Mobb Deep, and Sweet Trip. Felipe then keeps it going with a set that feature jams from Kim Deal, The Raincoats, and Goodie Mob. KEMS then ends it with a hard rocking set including classics from Minor Threat, Faith No More, and Pegboy to name a few.
